JOB SUMMARY:

The Banquet Event Staff’s primary responsibilities include assisting in set-up, serving, tear down, clean-up, and re-setting events in all Banquet areas. In this position you will act as a guest service representative at Banquets and related events.  The position requires that you achieve and maintain the highest level of guest service as well as maintaining professional interactions, safe working conditions, and teamwork. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provides exceptional service for all guests of the Banquet Department and the Sky Ute Casino Resort.
  2. Work as a team member with other Banquet Servers to provide total customer service experience.
  3. Assists with Banquet set-up functions to include draping tables, setting silverware, rolling silverware, folding napkins, and arranging centerpieces and décor.  Be willing and able to make last-minute changes to accommodate guest requests.
  4. Serves meals and beverages, maintains buffet lines and drink stations, clears and scrapes dishes, breaks down events, and returns operation to pre-event status.
  5. Responsible for the physical setting up and breaking down of tables, chairs, etc. and the safe handling, cleaning, and storage of all Banquet equipment.
  6. Completes any assigned side work such as refilling condiments, shaking and sorting linen, hanging/storing drapes, cleaning/storing serving equipment and/or props, etc.
  7. Be willing and flexible to assist with daily and special events such as concerts, conferences, meetings, weddings, and other large events.
  8. Ensures all assigned opening duties are completed in a timely manner, and all side work and closing duties are completed before leaving property.
  9. Provides assistance to guests by providing accurate information regarding restaurant specials and local information when appropriate.
  10. Performs other duties assigned by supervisors.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalency preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old. 21 years of age or older required in order to serve alcohol.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable through the Southern Ute Indian Tribe.
  • Must obtain TIPS certification within first 90 days of employment.
  • Food handling experience preferred.
  • Preferred work experience in all areas of Banquet events and catering; setting up events, food lines, beverage set-up, and service procedures.
  • Bartending experience preferred.
  • Must have great guest service skills, i.e., patience, ability to handle surprises, willingness to accommodate guest requests, and attentiveness to detail
  • Must be able to work well under pressure.
  • Must have ability to multi-task.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to receive and provide direction in English.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have excellent attendance.
  • Must be available to work all shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance multiple priorities successfully.
  • Able to anticipate and respond to guest needs in a timely manner with both guests and employees.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and move 40 to 60 pounds frequently.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl throughout the work shift. 
  • Must be able to stand on tiled, rubber-mat, and carpeted floors for up to 10 hours at a time.
  • Must have good vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and flexibility.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

  • Must be able to work in crowded areas containing high noise levels.
  • Always remains sensitive to cultural diversity in the workplace.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Be responsible for the use of potentially hazardous equipment including but not limited to food and beverage equipment and sharp knives.
  • Must be able to use and work with a variety of standard cleaning solutions and detergents, always using appropriate safety equipment and precautions.
  • Must be able to work under surveillance cameras. 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Candidate selected for employment will be subject to pre-employment drug test, employment references and a background check.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Sky Ute Casino Staff license.
  • Must sign confidentiality agreement at time of hire.
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality at all times including personnel data, gaming regulations and compliance, and departmental information.
  • Responsible for maintaining TIPS certification.
  • Must comply fully with all Sky Ute Casino’s Policies and Procedures, Gaming Code Regulations, and any applicable policies and regulations set forth by the Casino Resort.
