Job Description
We are currently hiring experienced Shipyard / Marine Carpenters for projects throughout the Hampton Roads area. Candidates with shipyard, marine construction, industrial carpentry, or heavy commercial carpentry experience are encouraged to apply.
This position supports vessel repair, retrofit, and new construction work in active shipyard environments.
Responsibilities
• Perform carpentry work aboard vessels, barges, dry docks, and shipyard facilities
• Build, repair, and install decking, cradles, staging, templates, supports, and structural components
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, measurements, and work instructions
• Cut, fit, align, and secure wood, plywood, composite, and related materials to specifications
• Use hand tools, power tools, saws, drills, levels, and measuring devices safely and effectively
• Assist with temporary structures, molds, interior carpentry, and production support work as needed
• Work closely with supervisors and other skilled trades to complete projects on schedule
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Follow all safety procedures including PPE, fall protection, fire prevention, and shipyard safety standards
Qualifications
• Previous shipyard, marine, industrial, or heavy carpentry experience preferred
• Ability to read a tape measure and follow layout instructions
• Experience using standard carpentry hand and power tools
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic required
• Able to work overtime, weekends, and production schedules as needed
• DBIDS in hand or ability to obtain access preferred
• Must be able to lift, climb, bend, kneel, and work in confined or elevated spaces as required
