Senior Medical Science Liaison Stroke/Thrombosis – South Bend Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a trusted scientific expert representing Bayer in the medical community. The MSL disseminates scientific data related to Bayer products and provides technical support in the field to ensure safe and effective use, including adverse event reporting and responding to unsolicited requests for detailed product and disease state information. Territory Parts of Illinois, Indiana, and up to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Responsibilities Complete core training curriculum and basic MSL & Therapeutic Area certification. Demonstrate continuous learning and growth; complete recertification where applicable. Maintain professional licensure with CEU documentation as required. Depth of knowledge within the therapeutic area exceeds peers; may have experience in multiple therapeutic areas. Coordinate and lead TA updates, team discussions, and training initiatives such as journal clubs. Attend local, regional, and national medical conferences; report on attendance. Coordinate team coverage of major regional or national meetings, including program evaluation and reporting. Identify educational gaps and recommend educational resources or initiatives. Establish long‑term relationships with Thought Leaders and key stakeholders. Engage proactively with TLs, HCPs, research sites, associations, societies, and other stakeholders per engagement plans. Leverage US and Global definitions to develop and execute local medical strategies. Drive medical strategy, translate local plan into actionable engagement strategies, and identify synergies with Bayer interests. Approach accounts, customers, and Area Business Unit strategically using key metrics. Support speaker training, evaluation, and medical evaluation of scientific merit. Coordinate Bayer program support during Advisory Board and other meetings. Coordinate TL engagement with Franchise Medical Affairs and internal stakeholders. Deliver educational presentations and identify new learning opportunities. Respond to medical inquiries in collaboration with Medical Communications. Adhere to SOP and FDA guidance for distribution of scientific information. Prepare and present data to internal audiences including MA and Commercial partners. Support research projects aligned with medical and brand strategy; facilitate investigator‑initiated research. Support clinical trial teams, provide data collection, feasibility, initiation visits, and study support. Generate HCP and stakeholder insights; document and communicate them to inform strategy. Report new compound development information and potential collaborations. Maintain strategic partnership and collaboration with cross‑functional stakeholders. Lead project teams or task forces as appropriate within the Franchise Medical Team. Initiate best practice discussions for MSL team and internal partners. Serve as MSL mentor as appropriate. Champion new ways of working including platforms, systems, and capabilities. Complete all required customer activity documentation, training, expense reporting, and administrative responsibilities. Review and interpret interaction analytics related to TL engagement; act on insights. Use data and analytics to maximize customer engagement opportunities. Leverage evolving country and Global platforms and systems to tailor engagement. Utilize omnichannel methods to deliver data, dissemination, and education. Required Qualifications BA/BS Degree (required). Experience in a scientific or healthcare clinical setting; or pharmaceutical industry experience in Medical Affairs, Sales, Marketing or Clinical Development; or post‑graduate fellowship experience in a hospital or industry setting. MSL experience (required). Project management ability. Expertise in communicating scientific information. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Understanding of clinical trial design. Ability to critically evaluate the medical literature. Teamwork ability. Ability to build productive work relationships externally. Travel 50 %+ and manage demanding schedule. Valid driver’s license and eligibility to drive a company vehicle. Preferred Qualifications Advanced terminal doctorate degree in medical or health sciences (MD, PhD, PharmD, DPH, EdD) or advanced degree in Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing or equivalent experience. Working knowledge of FDA, OIG requirements. A minimum of 1 year MSL experience or 2 years experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Area of expertise in neurology, stroke, thrombosis, or anticoagulation. Salary and Benefits Employees can expect a salary between $156,000 and $234,000. Additional compensation may include bonus or commission where relevant. Benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, and more.
