Job Description

What You’ll Do: Preparation of finance reports for the National Grid Ventures (NGV) Senior Leadership Team and Group Financial Control, consistently managing against deadlines. Support the development of our quarterly forecast and annual iteration of our 10-year business plan, bringing insight and analysis to add value and support decisions. Co‑ordinate the reporting and planning processes by setting accurate timetables and guidance to ensure delivery to agreed timescales and stakeholder requirements. Support wider transformational activities affecting the NGV FP&A team, working closely with project teams to ensure a smooth transition to new processes. Use reporting systems to extract data for review and build useful reports for the business. Act as a business partner for key finance stakeholders, supporting them in generating and interpreting business information. Proactively build own knowledge of the varied NGV operating companies, to produce concise and clear reporting. Proactively seek out opportunities to improve processes through best practice and new technologies such as advanced use of Microsoft Excel, including Power Query & Power Bi, to create and improve internal financial models. What You’ll Have: Qualified or near Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA). Experience across planning, forecasting, budgeting and financial reporting—you know how to turn numbers into something meaningful. A solid understanding of core financial processes and how they fit together. Strong financial modelling skills, with advanced Excel capability—and if you’ve used Power BI or Power Query, even better. You enjoy finding smarter, more efficient ways of doing things. A strong grounding in management accounting and the ability to provide clear, insightful support to the business. A proactive, self‑driven approach—you’re comfortable owning your workload and delivering quality work on time. A practical, adaptable mindset. You stay calm in a changing environment and can flex your style to suit different stakeholders and needs. Some exposure to business partnering and the confidence to engage with teams across the organisation. Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills—you know how to build relationships, influence decisions and work well with others. What You’ll Get: Up to £57,000 – dependent on capability. As well as your base salary you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few. EEO Statement We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates – we make appointments purely on merit, assessed against objective selection criteria. We support flexible working and will make reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process should you have any physical or mental impairment which may affect your ability to participate in the process. Immigration Sponsorship Please note that in most cases, National Grid is unable to offer sponsorship for employment under the UK points‑based immigration system. As such, applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship now or in the future under the UK points‑based immigration system. In exceptional circumstances where there is a clear and demonstrable need for specialist skills that cannot be sourced from the local labour market, National Grid may consider offering sponsorship. All applications are welcome from candidates who meet these requirements, regardless of race, nationality, or ethnic origin.
