Reproductive Freedom for All: Temporary California Organizer

The position focuses on executing strategies and building volunteer/member engagement in support of a special election to redraw California's Congressional maps ahead of the 2026 midterms. It involves coordinating organizing activities such as phone banking, canvassing, and educational events. Key responsibilities include assisting with the planning and execution of organizing events, managing volunteer/member recruitment and engagement, tracking voter contact data, and working closely with teams to ensure digital integration in outreach efforts. The role requires strong organizational skills, experience with electoral outreach, cultural competency, and data management. Equity and inclusion are reflected through fostering diverse volunteer leadership, prioritizing volunteer development, and ensuring inclusive engagement opportunities. The goal is to empower volunteers/members and implement effective outreach strategies to advance reproductive freedom and CA's special election efforts, helping to build a strong, engaged base of supporters.

This Position Is: Full-Time; FLSA-Exempt, Non-Union, Temporary (through November 30th, 2025 with the possibility to extend)

Salary: $55,000- $68,640

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Director of State Campaigns in implementing electoral outreach strategies, including phone banking, trainings, canvassing, educational events with stakeholders, relational organizing and other tactics as needed key parts across the state in support of the CA redistricting campaign;
  • Collaborate closely across the National Organizing and Digital Organizing teams to align outreach and training strategies, share and utilize tools and resources, and ensure seamless coordination of all advocacy efforts in-state;
  • Represent Reproductive Freedom for All in coalitions, as needed;
  • Recruit new, diverse volunteers and potential volunteer leaders to get involved in our fight for reproductive rights via event planning and execution, lead individual one-one meetings with volunteers, identify new and potential volunteer audiences using a suite of digital and field organizing tactics, lead new and existing Reproductive Freedom for All members and volunteers and move them up our ladder of engagement.;
  • Mentor, train, and support Reproductive Freedom for All volunteer leaders, including those directly affected by the fight for reproductive freedom, to work with our self-sustaining "Action Councils" that represent the organization's values (Action Councils are groups of all-volunteer leaders committed to working on Reproductive Freedom for All priority campaigns by planning and leading events, recruiting new members, recruiting for rallies, advocating for bills, or leading get-out-the-vote efforts plus other community-building events);
  • Maintain up-to-date data for volunteer engagement within our data system, VAN; Work closely with the Data team and state and national leadership to ensure the team is maintaining best practices and processes in data; track internal metrics and accomplishing daily and weekly organizer goals;
  • Ensure inclusive engagement opportunities by creating and promoting volunteer activities that are accessible, welcoming, and tailored to meet the needs of diverse communities, fostering a sense of belonging and active participation;

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with grassroots organizing strategies, at least 1 cycle of paid electoral campaign experience;
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills;
  • Success at keeping multiple projects organized while handling multiple competing priorities;
  • Experience in building strong volunteer teams, especially grassroots organizing during high pressure environments;
  • Experience working with diverse communities and a demonstrated ability to connect with people who have different lived experiences;
  • Some data management experience and knowledge using tools such as VAN & peer-to-peer tools;
  • Flexibility to work weekends/evenings; willingness to travel; access to a vehicle/valid driver's license required;
  • A demonstrated commitment to contributing to a workplace environment in which diversity, equity, and inclusion are valued and supported;
