Position Description: Warehouse / Industrial Yard Worker

The candidate will supports intermodal cargo container shipping, receiving, loading, unloading and transloading import and export containers to be taken to the ports of Virginia.

Job responsibilities include:

· Receive and unload shipping containers and cargo and inspecting for damage and inventory.

· Transloading cargo from shipping containers to warehouse and/or export containers.

· Lashing, blocking and bracing export freight in shipping containers and onto trailers for transport.

· Loading outbound freight onto flatbed, lowboy, step deck, and OTR trucks and trailers.

· Prepare, palletize, shrink wrap, and add lot identifiers to client loads for shipment.

· Assist in rigging large oversized freight for crane lifts.

· Moving cargo boxes and containers using various forklifts.

· Complying with company, warehouse, OSHA, and environmental procedures.

· Complying with local, state, and federal safety and material handling regulations.

· Maintain a safe workplace and reporting any unsafe conditions to supervisor.

· Utilize company vehicles and equipment, including:

• • Forklifts
  • Cranes
  • Welders and other warehouse material handling equipment
  • Fire Extinguisher inspections
  • Tractor, truck, crane, and trailer inspections and maintenance

Other responsibilities include:

• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

· High school diploma or GED

· Rigging experience required

· Experience lashing straps and/or chains and binders to secure freight to specialty trailers for transport

· Crane experience a plus

· Previous warehouse experience a plus

· Understand OSHA compliance and HAZMAT requirements

· Forklift experience is required; forklift certification is a plus

· Familiarity with hand tools and warehouse equipment

· Must be able to physically stand, sit, move, squat, walk, and climb during the course of the shift

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds or more

· Occasional night and weekend work

Position Working Conditions:

Working environment is primarily outdoors, in the elements, in our storage / loading yard, with occasional warehouse loading. Safety gear is required at all times. Candidate will be working along side heavy equipment such as forklifts, cranes, long arm container stackers, semi trucks and trailers, as well as heavy equipment operators. Occasional heavy lifting is required.
