Job Description

REACH Medical Holdings is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Helicopter Pilot to support REACH Air Medical Services in delivering rapid, critical air medical transport within our Emergency Services department. As a key member of a high-performance flight team, you will operate IFR- and VFR-capable helicopters to transport critically ill or injured patients between scenes, rural locations, and healthcare facilities. You will work closely with flight nurses, paramedics, and communication specialists to ensure safe, timely, and efficient missions that meet the highest clinical and operational standards. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of safe helicopter operation, including thorough pre-flight planning, weather and risk assessment, aircraft inspections, fuel management, navigation, and communication with dispatch, air traffic control, and ground agencies. You will exercise sound aeronautical decision-making in dynamic, time-sensitive situations, often in challenging environments and weather conditions, while rigorously adhering to FAA regulations, company policies, and industry best practices for Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS). During each mission, you will maintain constant situational awareness, coordinate takeoffs and landings at hospital pads, helipads, and improvised landing zones, and ensure that all operations are conducted with uncompromising attention to safety for patients, medical crew, and ground personnel. REACH Air Medical Services fosters a supportive, safety-first culture, and the Helicopter Pilot is expected to be an active contributor to that environment. You will participate in regular safety briefings, training, and simulation exercises, as well as help identify and mitigate operational risks. Collaboration with the clinical team is essential; while you will not provide direct medical care, you will coordinate closely with flight nurses and paramedics to accommodate patient needs, including smooth and stable flight profiles, altitude considerations, and communication during critical care interventions. You will also assist with loading and unloading patients, equipment, and supplies when appropriate, ensuring secure and efficient aircraft cabin configuration for each mission. This position involves working a rotating schedule, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24/7 emergency response coverage. You must be prepared for rapid launch when dispatched, maintain readiness during on-call periods, and uphold professional conduct when interacting with patients, families, hospital staff, public safety agencies, and the broader community. REACH Air emphasizes continuous professional development, and you will participate in ongoing recurrent training, check rides, and proficiency checks to maintain and advance your piloting skills. The ideal candidate brings strong helicopter EMS or similar low-level, time-critical operations experience, exemplary judgment under pressure, and a deep commitment to crew resource management (CRM) and Just Culture principles. REACH Medical Holdings offers a competitive compensation package, including a $15,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates, along with comprehensive benefits and the opportunity to make a direct, lifesaving impact in communities that depend on rapid medical air transport. If you are a professional helicopter pilot dedicated to safety, teamwork, and mission excellence, we invite you to join our supportive, safety-first team at REACH Air Medical Services.
