Job Description

Join District 9 and the City’s Urban Forestry Team to help Grow a Green San Diego! Volunteers will play a key role by planting trees, adding soil, and spreading mulch to ensure each tree gets the best start possible. These new trees will provide shade, beauty, and cleaner air for generations to come. It’s a fun, hands‑on way to connect with neighbors and make a lasting difference in our city’s green spaces. Volunteers will also participate in park painting, assisting with revitalizing the park with a fresh coat of paint to invite the community to come out and play. Funding for this project is provided by the USDA Forest Service, Urban and Community Forestry Program. USDA, City of San Diego, and all of its partners are equal opportunity providers and employers. Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes Attire: Closed‑toe shoes and clothing you don't mind getting dirt or paint on. This opportunity takes place outdoors with little or no shade, so volunteers should wear sun protection such as sunscreen and a hat. Bring: Reusable water bottle. Physical Requirements: This project can make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations. The space where this project takes place is wheelchair accessible. About City of San Diego - District 9 The City of San Diego's Council District 9 represents the communities of Alvarado Estates, City Heights, College Area, College View Estates, El Cerrito, Kensington, Mission Valley East, Mountain View, Mt. Hope, Normal Heights, Redwood Village, Rolando Park, Rolando Village, Stockton, and Talmadge. Activity Type: Gardening/Planting Requirements: Age Minimum (with Adult): 18+, Minimum Age: 10+ Sign Up Friday, January 9, 2026 From 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Full opportunity address and directions will be sent to you by e‑mail after you sign up. All volunteers must be registered in advance to attend. Your donation means more volunteers making an impact on San Diego nonprofits, schools, and parks. #J-18808-Ljbffr HOSD.org/211sandiego.
