Job Description

Digital Media Specialist Starting Date: Immediately. Salary: $40,000 to $59,250 Per Year. Employment Status: Exempt Contract Length: 202 Days Job Purpose The Digital Media Specialist is responsible for capturing, creating, and sharing the stories of Venus ISD through photography, videography, social media, graphic design, and digital communications. The role promotes student achievement, staff excellence, district initiatives, academic growth, extracurricular activities, community partnerships, and increases community engagement while enhancing the district’s public image. The specialist serves as the district’s storyteller, highlighting the positive accomplishments of students, staff, and programs across digital platforms. Core Responsibilities Content Creation Capture photos and videos of students, staff, programs, facilities, and district events. Create engaging graphics, videos, reels, and promotional materials for district communication platforms. Develop content that highlights academic achievement, athletics, fine arts, career & technical education, student organizations, staff accomplishments, district initiatives, and community partnerships. Social Media Management Manage and maintain district social media accounts. Develop and implement a consistent content calendar. Monitor engagement and analytics. Promote positive stories in alignment with district policies, branding standards, and professional expectations. Event Coverage Attend and document district and campus events, including back‑to‑school bash, open houses, convocation, homecoming activities, athletic events, fine arts performances, academic competitions, community events, graduation ceremonies, and board recognition programs. Graphic Design & Marketing Design flyers, graphics, presentations, advertisements, and promotional materials. Support recruitment and marketing campaigns. Maintain a consistent district brand and visual identity. Website & Digital Communications Assist with website updates and digital content management. Create digital newsletters and community updates. Maintain a digital archive of district photographs and videos. Support communication efforts related to district programs and initiatives. Community & Stakeholder Engagement Promote district programs and accomplishments to parents, community members, and stakeholders. Strengthen community involvement and partnerships. Collaborate with campus and department leaders to identify and share positive stories. Other Duties Assist the Superintendent with communication and public relations initiatives. Support district‑wide events and special projects. Perform other duties as assigned. Special Knowledge and Skills Strong understanding of social media platforms and current trends. Ability to create engaging content for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and other digital platforms. Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design software. Basic photography and videography skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Qualifications Education: Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree required. Experience: No prior professional experience required. Preferred experience creating content for social media platforms, photography, videography, graphic design, or content creation. Desired Character Traits: Energetic, creative, and innovative.
