Job Description

IEP Therapy is seeking a compassionate and skilled Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to provide specialized instructional services to students with hearing loss within K–12 educational settings. As part of the Education, Training & E-Learning department, you will collaborate closely with school teams to ensure that students who are deaf or hard of hearing can fully access the curriculum, develop strong communication skills, and progress toward their individualized educational goals. Working in partnership with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families, you will design and deliver instruction that is tailored to each student’s communication mode, language level, and learning needs. In this role, you will conduct and interpret educational and functional listening assessments, participate in IEP meetings, and contribute to the development of individualized education plans that address language, literacy, academic, and social-emotional goals. You will provide direct instruction in areas such as auditory skill development, speechreading, language development (spoken and/or signed), self-advocacy, and use of assistive listening technology. You will also support classroom teachers in adapting materials, modifying instruction, and implementing accommodations to ensure that students have equal access to learning in both general and special education environments. You will be responsible for monitoring and documenting student progress, maintaining accurate records, and communicating regularly with families and school staff. This includes collaborating with educational audiologists and other specialists to ensure hearing technology (such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, and FM/DM systems) is functioning properly and being used effectively in the classroom. You may provide consultative services to school staff, offering training on communication strategies, visual supports, and inclusive practices that promote engagement and participation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. IEP Therapy is a company that provides special education therapy services to schools, focusing on speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, and related services to ensure students receive personalized support. As a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher with IEP Therapy, you will work within a supportive and collaborative culture that emphasizes personalized care for each student and meaningful professional relationships with colleagues. You will have opportunities for ongoing professional development, access to resources for continuing education, and support in expanding your expertise in deaf education, language development, and assistive technology. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of language acquisition for children who are deaf or hard of hearing, familiarity with various communication approaches (including spoken language, American Sign Language, total communication, or cued speech, as appropriate to student needs), and knowledge of relevant special education laws and best practices. You should be comfortable traveling between school sites if needed, working independently within the school environment, and using technology to manage documentation and virtual collaboration. This position offers the opportunity to directly impact students’ educational experiences, empowering them to build communication, academic, and self-advocacy skills that support their long-term success.
